L. Lowell Geringer, age 92, of Wauseon, passed away late Monday July 2, 2012, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold. Prior to his retirement he had been a life long dairy farmer in York township.
Mr. Geringer was born in Wauseon on August 23, 1919, the son of the late Lawrence and Laura (Segrist) Geringer. In 1940 he married the former Mary Alice Clingaman who preceded him in death in 2010. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church near Wauseon. He was also a member of the Holstein Assoc., the Belgian Draft Horse Assoc., the York Twp. School Board, the Pike-Delta-York School Board, a 24 year member of the Fulton County Fair Board, a Sunday School Teacher at the former Taylor Methodist Church, and a school bus driver for 14 years. Lowell was awarded the first American Farmer degree from Wauseon High School in 1940.
In his spare time Lowell enjoyed watching harness racing and cattle shows at the local fairs, watching baseball games on TV, and reading.
Surviving are children: Marsha Watts of Panama City, FL, Janice Osborne of Frankfort, KY, Lynn Geringer of Bowling Green, and David (LaVerne) Geringer of Wauseon. Also surviving are grandchildren: Laura (Jim) Brown, Marcus (Cara) Osborne, Matt (Kathryn) Osborne, Brian Geringer, Amber Geringer and Keely Geringer; great-grandchildren: Bailey Brown, Micah Brown, Max Osborne, Tate Osborne, and Annalee Osborne. Also surviving is sister Jane Abbs of Kendallville, IN; sisters-in-law Virginia Geringer and Helen Clingaman; and brother-in-law John Clingaman. Preceding him in death were grand-daughter Jill Shockey; son-in-law Dave Watts; and siblings Clarice, Kathryn and Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday July 6, 2012, at the Zion United Methodist Church near Wauseon with Pastor Don Krieger officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon from 4:00-8:00pm on Thursday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Zion United Methodist Church.
