Otis W. Plassman, age 83, of Wauseon, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Prior to his retirement he had been self-employed for many years.
Otis was born in Toledo on September 17, 1929, the son of Erwin and Augusta (Rosebrock) Plassman. On November 21, 1981 he married Joyce Johnston, and she survives. He was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and he was also a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post #265, and Wauseon VFW Post #7424. He was also a member of the Delta Eagles.
Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are children, Karen (Gary) Kindle of Kenton, OH, Tina (Greg) Keister of Utah, Janine Jacobs of Oklahoma, Todd Plassman of Wauseon, Otis D. Plassman of Wauseon, Jamie (Brad) Myers of Pettisville, Kelly (John) Sierra of Archbold; 31 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Launita) Plassman of Wauseon, Victor (Bonnie) Plassman of Liberty Center, and one sister, Norma “Toots” Kurth of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kim Plassman, and one sister, Donna June Plassman.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, with the Rev. Charles Althoff, officiating. Interment will follow in the North Pettisville Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
