James D. Preston

Stryker:

James D. Preston, age 85, of Stryker, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, in his home. He was born in Jackson, Michigan to J.D. and Gertrude (Hitt) Preston. He married Donna Herr on April 21, 1952.

Because of his work, he moved his family frequently, Aro Corporation brought him to NW Ohio in 1968.  He found his true home in Stryker, OH where he and Donna opened and operated the popular apparel work store “Preston’s Clothing” for many years. He was a strong advocate for the Stryker community.  He cherished his family, his farm and valued hard work.  

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, sons, Jay (Cindy) Preston, Craig (Vicky) Preston, Jim Preston II, daughters, Judy Preston, Julie (Steve) Brink, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death: brothers, Gordon Preston, Lloyd Preston, sisters: Jean Hubbell and Marion Mounteer, grandchildren:  Jacqueline Nafziger,  Matthew Emmons, and great-grandchildren, Miley and Peyton Buehrer and Regina Preston.

Visitation will be at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker, Friday, March 15 from 3 PM- 5 PM, with a memorial service Immediately following. In lieu of flowers, preferred contributions:  Panther Packs, Inc. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
