Margaret Jesse (Meyers) Boynton

Margaret Jesse (Meyers) Boynton, age 97, of Bryan and formerly of Stryker passed away late Tuesday September 5, 2017 at Genesis Care Center in Bryan. Mrs. Boynton was born on September 26, 1919, the daughter of the late Harvey and the late Laura Belle (Mattoon) Meyers in the family home near Stryker. She was a 1937 graduate of Stryker High School.

 

Mrs. Boynton worked in homes taking care of children and cooking for families until she became employed at Spangler Candy Company. She also managed the former Williams 5 and 10 cent store in Stryker for 16 years. Mrs. Boynton later worked for the former Emenee Industries in Stryker and eventually retired from there. In 1941 she married Lowell Boynton and he preceded her in death in 2006. She was the oldest member of the Stryker United Methodist Church. Mrs. Boynton loved going to the Stryker Senior Center, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, making cards and being with her family.

 

Surviving is daughter Lynda (Terry) Wieland of Bryan, grandson; Robert Lloyd (Michelle) Wieland of Edgerton, four great-grand-daughters; Natasha Hill, Stephanie (Ryan) Sutter, Shannon Wieland and Jessica Huffman. Also surviving are two great-grandsons; Jacob and Justin Huffman, great-great-grandchildren; Karleigh, Kinleigh, Rileigh, Kailghley, Hunter, Mason and Xavier. One sister; Mary Lou Bailey of Bryan survives. Preceding her in death besides her parents was Step-Mother; Laura Alice (Beucler) Meyers, and sister; Ruby Belle Hall.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Saturday September 9, 2017 at the Stryker United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Ernst officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiffler Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 3:00-8:00pm at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stryker United Methodist Church, Donate Life of Ohio, the Stryker Senior Center or the charity of the donor's choice.
