Barbara Couts

Barbara Ann (Barnes) Couts went home to her Lord November 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Velma-Alma, Oklahoma September 10, 1938 to Archie and Minnie (Darity) Barnes, she married Joe Couts April 16, 1966 and he preceded her in death December 21, 2022. Together they raised 5 girls in Wauseon and loved each other fiercely. 

Mom loved her job at Fulton Manor the most. She and her dear friend Chris made lots of memories together doing activities with the residents. She loved bingo and she loved feeding people! She was on the FCC Chicken Pie Supper Committee for years and helped serve breakfast at the Delta Legion. She served on the Wauseon Homecoming Committee, Fulton County Legion Auxiliary and for several years ran the Wauseon Parks and Rec concession stand during softball season. Mom loved baking and crafting and in her retired years she loved watching Oklahoma softball! She would talk with her nieces Mary Dell and Cheryl every week about their favorite teams. Barb loved her Lord , Joe and her family. She is survived by her 5 girls, Angie and Buck McGee, Terry Witte, Shawn and Troy Najarian, Melony and Michael Carroll, and Michala and Brian Riegsecker; Brother, John and Vicki Barnes; Grandchildren, Montana Carroll and Chelsey Washington, Brynne and Blake Bruner, Brylee Riegsecker and Codie Haskell, and Billy Ray Wilson; Great grandchildren, Stella Bruner and 6 Wilson great grandchildren; and two special caregivers Denise Galbraith and Karol Garber

All services for Barbara are private, with burial at Raker Cemetery. Donations made in her honor will go to CHP Hospice. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home of Wauseon is honored to serve the Couts family.
