Bernard G. “Big Sam” Mock, age 88, of Wauseon, passed away on Monday morning, March 23, 2026 at Brookview Healthcare in Defiance. He was born on December 24, 1937 to Elwood and Evelyn (Windisch) Mock in Tedrow, Ohio. Bernard was a graduate of Pettisville High School and following high school he served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Campbell’s Soup Company after more than 47 years of service in the maintenance department. Bernard married DiAnn (Eichenauer) Mock on April 26, 1976 in Wauseon.
He was a true outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, trapping and tending to the Rat Shack. Bernard attended Pettisville Missionary Church with his wife, DiAnn. When he wasn’t working he could be found taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens.
Bernard is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, DiAnn Mock; children, Cylinda Prater, John (Loretta) Mock, Samuel (Kathy) Mock, Jeffrey Lee, Marsha (Adam) Lee and Pamala (Nick) Elliot; many precious grandchildren; great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeff Mock and sisters, Roxanne Bostleman and Shelby Borton.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon. His Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery.
