Coronavirus Update Obituary

Hello to our communities. This is not an obituary notice, but it is a way for us to communicate with people who receive our emails and look at our website often. We at Grisier Funeral Homes would like to inform our communities how we are handling the Coronavirus pandemic.

The first thing to say is that we are working around the clock to ensure that we can provide adequate services for the families and friends that are grieving in this time. For the families we are currently serving, services have been limited, but the support that you can give them does not have to be. If you know their telephone number, have their email, or are able to connect with them remotely in another way, we strongly encourage you to reach out. The loss of a loved one is already extremely difficult, let’s work collectively to let families know they are being uplifted even when they are not able to have a public gathering to remember the one they have lost.

Secondly, we would like to highlight some of the services we offer to reach the families we serve. If you click on the obituary of the person you know, there is a link that will allow you to let the family know you are thinking about them and share a memory. The “share a memory” button under the individual’s picture will allow you to support the family and offer your condolences to them.

If you need our services, we are still operating as normal; the biggest change comes from how we communicate and how we go about services. Services will be largely private in accordance with the gathering of people limit. Services, if the family requests, will be scheduled at a later time as to give them the opportunity for a public service when it is safe for them, for us, and for the community that wants to support them. If you would like to pre-arrange your funeral, we can still provide that but we will have to schedule a time.

Safety, safety, safety. It is what we strive for, and it is what we feel we can provide for our communities. We will limit all meetings to either scheduled and limited attendance, or through forms of technology such as conference calls and/or video calls.

We know that these are challenging times. We appreciate the understanding of our communities. With all of the changes, know that no matter what, Grisier Funeral Homes will continue to serve to the highest degree possible, and we will do everything in our power to make these times as normal as we can. We value the trust we have from our communities, and we continue to strive to provide the highest level of care that is reverent, meaningful, and safe. We are still a place to find peace, and we will continue to care for our communities.

We ask that you all take care of yourselves, and also call someone you love. Talk to people over the phone even though we may not be able to see them in person. Continue the sense of community through these trials. Coretta Scott King said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” We will prove that point through this time, and we will see the compassion that we have for others. Together, we all will endure this, and we will begin to conquer this virus.

Thank you.
