Donald proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1965–1966. After his time in the service he began his lifelong career in business machine sales, beginning at Victor Business Machines in Toledo, OH and eventually being transferred to the Victor branch office in Minneapolis MN. Thus began his years in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” where he married and spent 25 years in Northern Minnesota as a small business owner at Mesabi Office Equipment in Hibbing, MN before selling it and returning to Ohio in 1998 to be near family. In 2001, he and his son launched Apex Solutions in Sylvania, OH together, another small business which grew steadily and was subsequently acquired in 2022- a testament to his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
Outside of work, Donald was an avid golfer, he also enjoyed spending time at the lake, and watching football, hockey, and golf. Known for his colorful personality and sharp sense of humor, he carried the nickname “Zoo,” earned in his youth for his remarkable ability to mimic animal sounds. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Sylvania.
He is survived by his children, Stephani Campbell of Hibbing, MN, and Bruce Turnbull of Berkey, OH; his grandson, Austin Campbell; his sister Barbara (William, deceased) Hartman of Maumee, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
