Jack Nelson Howard

Jack Nelson Howard, age 87, of rural Delta, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born on September 5, 1936 to Clyde Nelson and Audrey Marie (Summers) Howard in Delta, Ohio. Jack married the love of his life on April 5, 1959, Janice Elaine (Spangler) Howard in Morenci, Michigan. Together they spent 65 years and 33 days. Jack was a lifelong grain farmer and prior to farming he was a talented plumber and heating. He never turned down hard work and was always a provider for his family. When he wasn’t farming, he enjoyed coon-hunting, a good han d in Pepper, fishing, visiting his friends, rooting for The Ohio State Buckeye’s and above everything he cherished his time with his family; his wife, daughters, sons in law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Howard; daughters, Wendy (Michael) Zettel, Peggy (Jack) Kruse and Dorothy (Hal) Miller; eight grandchildren, Amber (Craig) Bostelman, Amanda (Terry) Gambler, Adam (Jeremy) Zettel, Alexa (Tyler) Heft, Aaron (Alexandria) Zettel; Taylor (Benjamin) Van Gorden and Kailey (Seth) Burkholder; Matthew Miller; 11 great-grandchildren with one expected in June, Isaac, Micah, Ethan, Claire, Ellie, Emma, Sage, Everlee, Cooper, Harper and Masey. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and George Howard.

The family will gather with family and friends on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2-7:00 p.m. at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio. His Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with visitation from 10-11:00 a.m., Rev. Maryann Reimund officiating. Interment in Winameg Cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and American Heart Association. 

Jack’s family would like to specially thank his caregivers for their dedicated care for over the several weeks, Amy, Austin, Bonnie, Brittani, Courtni, Heather, Janet, Susan, Teresa and Viki.
