James “Jim” Barnes, age 76, of Wauseon, passed away on January 10, 2025.
James was born on March 11, 1948, in Wauseon, to the late Arby and Jean Barnes. He graduated from Wauseon High School, class of 1966. Jim married Nancy (Dewey) on November 15, 1986.
Jim never met a stranger; he made friends easily and enjoyed visiting with them. He was always willing to lend help if he was able. Jim enjoyed tinkering in his shop, especially on cars. If there was ever a perfect love story, it was Jim and Nancy Barnes.
He is survived by his sons, Eric (Jenni) and Brian (Emily); grandchildren, Cassidy (Cole) Calvin, Travis, Kaleb, Holden, and Hannah Barnes; sisters-in-law, Marsha Barnes and Denise (Dean) Galbraith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; and nephew, Will Figy.
Visitation for Jim will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm, at the First Christian Church in Wauseon. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the church, at 11am, with Pastor Michael Doerr officiating. Burial will follow at the Wauseon Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions for Jim be made to the United Way-Fulton County. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home of Wauseon has been entrusted with the arrangements. The obituary for Jim was lovingly prepared by his family.
