Karen Foust Obituary

Karen Foust, 82, formerly of Bryan, passed away Monday morning, March 30, 2026, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Drena (Ritter) and Steven Doseck of Swanton, Scott and Paula Ritter of Edgerton; six grandchildren, Christopher and Mickayla Doseck, Catherine “Katie” Doseck and fiancé Cameron Livernois, Thomas Ritter and fiancée Leah Fagan, Megan and Benjamin Casale, Micah Ritter and girlfriend Cheyenne Nutter, Noelle Ritter; two great-grandchildren Ellie and Indie Doseck; two step-daughters and their spouses Michelle and Bradley Figgins, Wendy and Jim Stykemain; five step-grandchildren Erika and Brayden Savage, Brady Stykemain, Jordan Stykemain, Sophia Stykemain, and Jackson Figgins; her brother Keith and Linda Puehler; sisters, Phyllis Rickenberg, Carol and Jim Stutzman, Janice and Dave Cole; thirteen nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, David “Butch” Foust; brother-in-law Delbert Rickenberg.

Karen was born August 31, 1943, at home in Delta to the late Fred and Alice (Sidle) Puehler. She received her Medical Technology degree from Elkhart University in July 1962. She worked at several area hospitals as a lab technician for 50 years, retiring in 2014 after 36 years at CHWC Bryan. Karen wanted to be a teacher, but God led her into the healthcare field instead. Her desire to teach and share knowledge was fulfilled by teaching Bible School and training others at work. Her greatest joy was working in her garden and flower beds. Many friends enjoyed her flowers as she would share them as well as get flowers for her beds from them. She planted daffodils and irises when she was in school and transplanted some at each place she lived, making them over 60 years old. Working with her hands in the soil gave her a closeness with God and brought her peace and spiritual renewal.
