Opal Mae Davis

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Opal Mae Davis announce her passing on November 25, 2024.

She was born on the family farm in Delta, Ohio to Lyle and Hazel (McQuillin) Green. She graduated from Delta High School and took a position as a case worker in Wauseon, Ohio. She held this position for many years before taking the role of fraud investigator. She was a Sunday School teacher for the United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir in her spare time. Opal truly enjoyed singing, and went on to join the Irish Hills Sweet Adeline's, where she traveled the country to harmonize with many others in beautiful barbershop music.

Her family in Heaven who are waiting to take her hand is her mother, Hazel Green; her father, Lyle R. Green; her husband, Hollis Davis; her son, Kerry C. Welch; her grandson, Christopher Smart; and her great-grandson, Jonathon Smart.

Those of us who will miss her dearly is her daughter, Dawn (James) Wheeler; her daughter-in-law, Linda Welch; her granddaughter, Heather Smart; her grandsons, Ryan Wheeler, Matthew (Eliza) Wheeler, and Aaron (Austin) Nelson-Welch; her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her cousin Anna (Jeff) Sprow; and many other family and friends.

Visitation for Opal will take place on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 10am to 12pm, at the Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home in Delta. A funeral service will follow visitation at the funeral home, with Celebrant Adam Grisier officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Open Door in Delta. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
